NOT FEELING SO FINE

the closing of last week was nice, we met jay and yuko for dinner and drinks on friday after work, caught up a little, had a spot of conversation, exchanged belated presents... we received a sweet choc fondue set from them. pretty.
saturday and sunday proceeded to fly by, spent some warm fuzzy time with my family to celebrate a birthday..

i had a flashback last night... it was year 2002 December, my solo trip to perth... after 3 weeks (or slightly less) i felt a deep wave of homesickness, and gave a call home to inform my parents i was cutting short my holiday and coming home. when i arrived in singapore, they picked me up and we had coffee & muffins in the airport starbucks before heading home. to begin with, they weren't even approving of my decision to run off to a foreign country - but i guess i'm wilful and i had a plan so they held their breaths and let their baby go. their unwavering support is what makes me homesick, its what makes me want to fly back to them every time. so then we had some coffee & muffins, before heading home.

SITTING ON A CORNFLAKE

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.

some random thoughts before i leave for work:
psychedelia, vegetating, ideas images concepts theories as i lay down on a grassy slope with possibly a tree closeby.. i shield my eyes from the sun lazily with a bent arm, the shadows my fingers cast distracts me and they start to flap and dance, like a bird and sometimes, like a phoenix.
when i'm ready i'll rise, and i'll enjoy my barefeet steps brushing gently the stoic grass, i'll approach the lone tree and i will hug it.
goodbye, see you soon.

TODAY PICKS OLD DAYS

a spot of smile at lunch...

Yvette:
hi darling

Shivanan: having..
Yvette: whats for lunch?
Shivanan: fired noodles..
Yvette: fired!
poor noodles...
Shivanan: yes it was doing a poor job of being noodles

excerpts of my playlist picks for today:

Richard Hawley sways me with his lullaby tunes and dreamy guitar rifts.. not forgetting his deep soothing vocal reverbs. oh.

The Divine Comedy - reminded by Richard Hawley's vocals, I pulled out some old Divine Comedy tracks, feeling reminiscent of similar bassy vocals.

Patrick Watson I've been going on about him recently (ref. sidebar playlist for samples). I love the creative layering in his music to complement his haunting vocals. It's theatrics in music! Awesome.
